<description>Yesterday , a grandfather was very much upset , because my cousin brother wanted to marry a girl which dose not belong to our cast . My grandfather was angry . He didn't even wish to see and talk that girl and reason behind this is nothing but that the girl isn't belong to our caste. Really, according to my grandfather caste is bigger than human being and his/her nature .These views of my grandfather may be held by thousands of Indians. Even today :- in the first century before marriages caste of both male and female are checked And parents also give first preference to boy of there caste , when they hunt bride for daughter . Even today inter caste marriages are looked down upon . Actually, because of such attitude of people ,casteless India is becoming mere mirage
To belong to particular caste is sheer luck. But such simple luck factor is very much important in India . In India there is unnecessary hype is created about caste . While choosing life partner , people not only consider caste but also insist same sub caste . In such scenario ,the person - his /her personality, manner of talking ,behaviour are easily ignored by well-educated people . The origin of cast system is form chaturvarniya system. In chaturvarniya system there were four varnyas i.e.castes . These are :- Brahmins , kshatriya , vaishya and shudra . These four castes are based on occupations of people . Slowly and gradually , Brahmins were considered as the highest and most important caste below in hierarchy there were kshatriya then vaishya and lastly shudra . shudra received low status in society . They have to live miles away from locality . they were not suppose to touch any of brahmin and were not suppose to drink water from well . Brahmin tortured shudras . Brahmin have right to take education . There very much dominating . These caste system prevailed for many years in India .
People not only respect their caste but also consider their caste as upper caste ,and look down upon other caste . There are many stereotypes and biases about castes . Because of such stereotypes, prejudices casteless India is becoming only a dream . These stereotypes about caste are very difficult to eradicate . For example , Harijans were considered as untouchables . Mahatma Gandhi ,the father of nation is Harijan . But generally consider Mahatma Gandhi as an " exceptional case " Thus it is very difficult to do brain wash of people's view about caste .
Many freedom fighters directly attacked on caste system . Mahatma Gandhi fought against untouchability . He wanted '' Harijans '' to be accepted as part and parcel of main stream of society . Even Dr. Ambedker fought for right of shudras . But most of efforts were invain because people with time developed particular full of prejudices view against cast of other people . Because of such mentality , still today people fail to acknowledge that everyone is same irrespective of their caste . That is why ,Indians mostly fail to do group work because they find hard to adjust with people of the other castes.
To eradicate caste system reservations are provided to OBC /BC people . Reservation is given to them because they can enjoy rights which are denied to their parents and also grandparents . And reservation is considered as the only way to lead to egalitarian society . But reservation makes the dream of dream of casteless India impossible . The reservation provided in field of education , occupation . But these reservations are counter productive. Reservation perpetuates caste system rather than abolish the caste system . These reservations themselves make individual aware about his / her caste .So , reservations are not the way to reach the casteless India .
One more reason for why casteless India is impossible is politicians . To win votes they generally use their one caste and influence people and encourage them to give votes . So they force voters to think about their castes and religion .
Thus unmotivated people , political unrest , reservations are all responsible for making dream of casteless India impossible. But it is high time to think about caste system of India and eradicate this system . The caste system of India is given so much importance that it will break nation in to parts. So it is necessary to take up step against it .
The dream of casteless India can become reality if and only if both politicians and people in general show interest and willingness to change current scenario . To achieve dream of casteless India , it is necessary to give reservations on merit, social back ground . Once the person get job ,the social standard of person improves. So the promotional opportunities should not be based on caste but also on experience , quality of work ,quantity of work . So reservation should be selective and merit oriented .
Similarly politicians should not use caste and religion to win election . There should be strict punishment to politicians who use caste to influence voters.
Media can also play an important role. Through media biases and stereotypes about caste can easily be removed . The group discussions, workshops should be arranged to aware people about other caste to acknowledge the similarity and differences between castes.
Thus , if everyone decides and works towards the goal i.e. casteless India then it will turn into reality . Afterall every cloud has a silver lining .
